What is the difference between an STNA and a CNA?
Often, students get confused, and consider certified nursing assistant (CNA) and state tested nurse aide (STNA) as separate professions. In fact, both the careers are the same. The word STNA is used for nurse aides, in the state of Ohio.
What is the cost of the program?
The total tuition is $395.00 ( Unless we offer a promotion). The payment plan is $250 down payment,with balance due day of class; or $395.00 if paid in full. This will include lab and clinical fees. A note manual for the cost of 10.00.
How do I register for a class?
Once you make an initial payment ( In the office,over the phone or online). Initial paperwork will have be completed in the office. We ask that you come in 24-48 hours to complete. You are not registered until you make a PAYMENT. If making a payment online please fill out the online payment form. You still need to come into the office to complete the application process. ( see above directives)
How do I pay for the classes?
You can make a payment on the payment page,come into the office or pay by phone. You can make the FULL payment of 395.00 or use our convenient payment plan. We accept all major credit cards, MC, Visa, money orders and Paypal.

Are test fees included? If not how much are the fees?
No, the test fees are not included in the tuition. The cost of the test is $100 total. $76 for the skills and $24 for the written. This money is paid to the Ohio Department of Health through a third party: D&S Diversified
Can I take the state test at Heart to Heart?
Yes, you can take the state test here. We offer the test on weekends and weekdays.
How many hours are required for the class?
The state of Ohio requires all students to have a total of 75 hours total. 59 hours in the classroom and 16 hours in clinicals.
How long are the classes?
The day classes are two weeks and the evening classes are three weeks. (This can change at the directors discretion)
What is the attendance policy?
You can not miss any days of CLASS or CLINICALS. You will automatically be dismissed for any absences. We will only offer make-up days with the exception:
The ONLY EXCEPTION is death in the immediately family, hospitalization, or court.
Documentation will have to be shown before readmittance.
How many students are in a class?
It depends we can average 16 to 24 students a class.
Do I need a uniform for class?
Yes, a uniform is mandatory for class and clinicals.
SCRUBS: Navy blue, white, or royal blue.
A soft bottom closed toe shoe for clinicals. NO CROCS
Is the textbook included?
A note packet is provided for a $10 fee. (Mandatory)
Do I need to have a High School Diploma or GED to take this class?
No. But please be aware most employers may require a HS diploma or GED.
Do I need to have a background check before taking this class?
Yes, there is a county background check required to attend clinicals. This can be obtained downtown at the Justice Center, 1200 Ontario St. (On the third floor) Cost $10.00

Do you assist with the state testing application?
Yes, we will take you through the steps for signing up for the test. We will offer reviews for the written and skills during classroom hours. This can increase your chances of passing.
Do you offer financial aid?
No, we do not offer financial aid. You can inquire about financial aid through Job and Family Services and all county and local offices that provide assistance to individuals looking to obtain or advance in a career.
What jobs can I get by being certified as an STNA?
You can work in a variety of settings, including: hospitals, nursing homes, private residences, or physician’s offices.
On average what do STNAs get paid?
On average STNA's are paid $10 to $15 per hour depending on the facility and experience.
What if I let my STNA license expire?
You will have to take a class over again and take the State test over to be placed back on the Nurse Aide Registry.
