What is STNA?

State Tested Nurse Aide


What is the difference between an STNA and a CNA?
Often, students get confused, and consider certified nursing assistant (CNA) and state tested nurse aide (STNA) as separate professions. In fact, both the careers are the same. The word STNA is used for nurse aides, in the state of Ohio.


Are the classes online or in person?

The classes are Hybrid. This means half of the class will be online and the other half in person.


What is the cost of the program?

The total tuition is $495.00. We offer payment plans:

1. Deposit $250 with balance of $245.00 due before the 1st day of class;

or

2.495.00 paid in full

or

3.AFTER PAY (Pay in 4 installments with 123.00 deposit)


How do I register for a class?

Go to payment page make a payment. Fill out the contact form. Required paperwork will be sent via email after payment is made and contact form completed.  


How do I pay for the classes?

You can make a payment online. We accept all major credit cards, MC, Visa, money orders and Paypal.

ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE!!


Are test fees included? If not how much are the fees?

No, the test fees are not included in the tuition. The cost of the test is $104 total. $78 for the skills and $24 for the written. This money is paid to a  third party: D&S Diversified


Can I take the state test at Heart to Heart?

We offer the test at the sites provided by the testing center


How many hours are required for the class?

The state of Ohio requires all students to have a total of 75 hours total. 59 hours in the classroom and 16 hours in clinicals. 


How long are the classes?

The day classes are two weeks.


What is the attendance policy?

 You can not miss any days of CLASS or CLINICALS. You will automatically be dismissed for any absences. We will only offer make-up days with the exception:

The ONLY EXCEPTION is death in the immediately family, hospitalization, or court.

Documentation will have to be shown before being readmitted.


How many students are in a class?

It depends we can average 16 to 24 students a class.

Do I need a uniform for class?

Yes, a uniform is mandatory for class and clinicals.

SCRUBS Class: Any color

SCRUBS Clinical: Navy, Black, or Blue (Solids no prints)

A soft bottom closed toe shoe for clinicals. 

Do I need to have a High School Diploma or GED to take this class?

No. But please be aware most employers may require a HS diploma or GED.

Do I need to have a background check before taking this class?

No

Does your program conduct clinicals? 

Yes, clinicals are mandatory.


Do you assist with the state testing application?

Yes, we will take you through the steps for signing up for the test

Do you offer financial aid?

No, we do not offer financial aid. You can inquire about financial aid through Job and Family Services and all county and local offices that provide assistance to individuals looking to obtain or advance in a career. 

What jobs can I get by being certified as an STNA?

You can work in a variety of settings, including: hospitals, nursing homes, private residences, or physician’s offices.

On average what do STNAs get paid?

On average STNA's are paid $15-$25 per hour depending on the facility and your experience or If you are  on staff or working through an agency.

What if I let my STNA license expire?

You will have to take a class over again and take the State test over to be placed back on the Nurse Aide Registry.

Are You Accredited?

Yes, we are licensed through the Ohio Department of Health .
